MONTANA'S WINE-GROWING INDUSTRY EXPANDING

info340947
It's a slow process in a state like Montana which is mostly known for cherries when it comes to fruit. There aren't many vineyards, and those that are here and of any size have many wineries eager for their grapes.

Several wineries in the last years are either new or in the works. One vineyard has sold grapes to four different Montana wineries, but will soon become a winery itself and consequently will no longer be selling grapes.

With the newer hardier grapes available, there are many places in Montana where these grapes will grow. It's a fair amount of hand labor, but an acre or two of grapes can pay off. If you are interested, shoot an email to info@wineamerica.com, and we'll do our best to set you in the right direction. Bob Thaden, Tongue River Winery, Miles City, MT
